Welcome to Spring..its another year for the city of Toronto to try to help the homeless make it through the cold of winter and the heat of Summer. Unfortunately the homeless are struggling to find a warm or cool place to be and the days for some shelters staying open are coming to an end. Some of the location are closing downtown again and more are downsizing leaving less beds open.
But since this is our challenge we are going to face it head on. Winter was a brutal time for the homeless of Toronto and I have never seen so many homeless living right outside all winter. This year we saw triple the people in major locations trying to survive the winter cold. Totally unacceptable, that now there are so many new homeless people outdoors trying to survive the elements with no beds for most and the city is trying to save money nby closing shelters meanwhile saying they have more warming centers and open beds, its just not true…
Time for the city to again start to develop more affordable housing for Toronto’s homeless instead of telling them to find a place on their own.
